Fair Use and Plagiarism
•Two considerations: how the copyrighted material was used and the amount of copyrighted material that was used
•
•When you make fair use of a copyrighted work in your school assignments or research, you should always be careful to provide a citation to the original work. (Almost all of this course is not original work and is not cited, but you must!)
•
•Failure to cite the source of material that you use (even though it is in the public domain and not protected by copyright) is called plagiarism and can be a serious violation of your school’s academic honesty policy.
