Lab Work

Web server - apache listens on port 80

Try this:

Start/Run
telnet www.yahoo.com 80
Then enter in the command (you may not see what you're typing):
GET /index.html HTTP/1. 0
Just cut and paste this.

Then press enter twice. You should see the HTML code that is sent to your browser.

Sample client/server for making a drawing.
Client side calculations.
Server side image compression
Test URL http://www.sci.brooklyn.cuny.edu/~goetz/sheep.html

Lab Questions: Due Next Week

In Netscape to see the plugins, visit the following URL:

List 3 plugins on the computer you are on. Pick one of them and do a search to find more information on that plugin. Just list a URL you find.

I posted on the Internet a question a while back ago about a problem I was having with compression of digital video that I had taken from my video camera. Do a search and tell me the title of the movie (video clip) I talked about in my post. List what steps you took to find my post. Include the search words used.

I invented and patented something. What is one of the patent numbers? Hint, first search the web for place that would list US patents. List what steps you took to find the patent number. Include the search words used.
