Assignments - Museum Consulting Job

While studying at Brooklyn College one day, a museum curator walked by the computer center and saw you working on a multimedia assignment. The curator asked to see what you were working on. After you showed the curator your assignment, the curator said "Wow, you really know a lot about multimedia. The museum could really use an interactive kiosk for our new exhibit. Are you available for hire?" You think to yourself how great this would look on your resume. So you decide to take the curator up on the offer. The following is what happens over the next couple of months...

• Teach Me video Due last class - Make a video teaching me something on the computer using a multiemedia program. Pick from Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand (or something else that I approve). Pick a medium to advanced topic and record a minimum of 3 minutes worth of video. Use Microsoft Media Encoder or another screen capture program. Capture at a screen resolution and video size at 640 x 480. Use a mic to record your voice explaining what is going on.

Homework (10%), Class Participation (5%) You have to come to class!

Quizes 5%, Midterm (20%), Final (28%)

Books:

• M: Multimedia Making It Work 7th edition by Tay Vaughan. 6th edition is close enough.
  
• P: There will be a Multimedia Authoring book for use in the class. I have not decided on this one yet. It will be a book on Adobe (Macromedia) Flash

Planned Class Work

The syllabus will likely change a bit over the course of the term. This is more of an outline.

Bring up topics to discuss in class. I would like to have discussions about various Multimedia topics. Please look at computer magazines or visit computer related web sites for things of interest. Some good sites are:
