Title: The Uses of Algebraic Topology in Computer Modeling
Abstract:

Algebraic topology is a branch of pure mathematics with an exotic name. It would seem to be quite unrelated to computer science. This talk will illustrate how the basic ideas of algebraic topology lead to the solution of the problem of constructing 3-dimensional representations of objects represented by wire frames and ultimately of objects represented by 2-dimensional projects. All concepts from algebraic topology necessary to understand the talk will be developed in the talk.
