I don't know who the author is of this piece. It was originally
posted at http://members.cox.net/mathmistakes/greatestmistake.htm,
and when that link became inactive some years ago, it was
re-posted (perhaps by a different person) at
http://nukz.net/books/mistake.htm. Now that this latter link
is no longer active either, I am taking the liberty of
posting it on my own. I hope that the writer of this
piece will come forward, so that he/she can get proper
recognition for this very interesting piece of writing.
