Project
Overview
The project is to design a double-sided auction market which will then
be tested in competition against markets developed by other students
in the class.
This is not as hard as it might soumd, because you'll be building on
top of some software that as already been written and which provides
much of the required functionality. The software that we'll use as the
basis of the project is JCAT.
JCAT. was developed to
support the Trading Agent Competition Market Design Game. JCAT is
written in Java and provides:
- Software agents that trade in the markets;
- Support for message passing between traders and the market you build;
- A simple implmentation of a market that you can customize.
Documentation on JCAT can be downloaded from the same site as the
software, and the developers of JCAT will be on hand during the
project to answer any questions you may have.
Competition
The culmination of the project will be a competition between the markets
that you develop.
Exactly how we will run the competition will be decided later in the semester.
