Textbook: Calculus – Early Transcendentals, 5th edition by James Stewart.

Material to be covered:

  1. Inverse Trigonometric Functions 3.6
  2. Applications of the Definite Integral 6.1-6.4, 8.1
  3. Techniques of Integration 7.1-7.4
  4. Other Integration Topics, L’Hopital’s Rule 7.7, 7.8, 4.4
  5. Polar Coordinates 10.3, 10.4
  6. Infinite Sequences and Series 11.1-11.12 (skip 11.11)

Grading policy: There will be two hourly tests. Each test will affect 30% of your final grade.

The tests are tentatively scheduled for 5th and 10th weeks.

The final exam will be worth 40 %. Tests will be announced one week in advance. The final exam will take place on Friday, May 20, 1:00-3:00 pm.

Grading scale: 90 – 100% - at least A-; 80 -- 89% - at least B-; 70 -- 79% - at least C-; 60 -- 69% - at least D-; F below 60%.

Attendance: At the beginning of each class period I will take attendance. Although attendance will not negatively affect your grade, every student is responsible for all announcements made in class as well as all material covered.

If you miss an exam due to a valid reason, you are expected to inform your instructor before the exam. Normally, you are to make up an exam within 10 days.

Homework is assigned during every class period, but is not collected and not graded. You are welcome to ask questions related to the last homework during the first ten minutes of each class period.
