Nov 12 No homework due today; but I'll assign homework from this week's reading as well as last week's after class today (the 12th). Have a good weekend.

The exam will be a takehome. It will be given out in class on the 29th and be due at the beginning of class one week later.

The interim reports will be due Nov 5.

Oct 1 Oops. I meant Ch. 5, and dictionary coding. Readings for today: the section on adaptive Huffman coding, and Ch. 6 of Sayood. We probably won't cover all of predictive coding today, but we'll be able to make a start.

Sept 24 Here is the second homework assignment. Homework 1 has been extended to Oct 1.
