day 10: culture street, leaving xi'an

Today was a short day, as an evening flight back to Beijing necessitated a pretty early departure from downtown. So, we spent the morning shopping for souvenirs on the 'Culture Street,' and the early afternoon wandering the Muslim quarter looking for the Great Mosque -- we found lots of reasons to believe we were close, but no mosque. Hmm. Sometimes the quest is more interesting than its object, anyway.

This more-or-less concludes the trip. Once in Beijing, it was business as usual -- another night in the Sino-Swiss hotel, with a Western-style breakfast to ease the transition home, and a 10:30 shuttle to the airport.
