PIMA 7741 FALL 2011 HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT (22-sep-2011) Create your own DJ setup using multiple buffer~ and groove~ objects. Use line~ to smoothly change the speed of your "virtual turntables." Experiment with looping and non-looping ("one-shot") sounds. Looking for good sounds to play with? Search on your mac for the "apple loops for garage band" folder. This has over 1000 music loops for you to play with! Remember: anything in sufficient quantity is interesting. If you are stuck for a new idea, duplicate! Things to try: 1. Two groove~s playing the same buffer~ at slightly different speeds (eg. 1.00 and 1.01) -- listen for a while! 2. Grooves playing the same buffer~ in speeds that are multiples of 2 (eg. 1, 2, 4, .5, .25, .125) -- try atarting them all together with a button connected to the "0" message. 3. Groove~s playing the same buffer~ but starting at different times. 4. Groove~s playing different buffers 5. Crossfading between four Groove~s using a PictSlider And come up with some things to try yourself -- challenge yourself to make your patch do 10 things that you understand and can control.
