Creating Your Own Webpage Using Microsoft Word

In today’s assignment you are going to begin with a blank document and create your own homepage. Follow the instructions below, and then email your document as an attachment to: dsokol@brooklyn.cuny.edu

Students that send complete assignments will receive +5 points on the upcoming exam.

Before you begin, use Help to find out how to save a Word document as a webpage.

Then, change to Web Layout view so that you can see how your document will view in a browser.

Part 1: Include a shape, change the size, color, and border of the shape. Then, type your name on top of the shape (Hint: you may have to change the text wrapping of the shape).   Insert a clip art or picture, and format to your liking.

Part 2: Insert a bulleted list of potential links to things that interest you. Change the bullet to a different symbol.

Part 3: Add some text to your webpage. Use buttons in the toolbar to format the text on the page, such as increasing the font size or using italics.

Part 4:  Add a table to your webpage showing your current course schedule. Format the table using the Design tab, and center the table on the page. Format the values in the table. Put a caption on the table.

Part 5: Put a border on the entire page, and put a background color (or if you want a pattern background) for the whole page.  (Hint: Use the Page Layout tab, Page Color, Fill Effects).
