Course Requirements

Textbooks and Lecture Notes:

1. Problem Solving with C++, 2^nd ed., by - Jones & Harrow. (This is the principal textbook for the course).

2. Workbook for C++, 3^rd ed., by - Langsam. This text contains many solved problems and sample final exams.

Class Meetings:

          Attendance is an academic requirement. You are responsible for whatever is done in class, whether or not you attend. In particular, you are responsible for the timely submission of all homework assigned in class.

          While attending class, students are required to conduct themselves in an academically, professional manner. Students are expected to arrive on time. While in class, students are to maintain proper academic decorum by not engaging in talking with fellow classmates or other disruptive activities. Any student engaged in disruptive activities will be subject to academic discipline; including, lowering of their final grade and/or expulsion from the class.

          All Cell Phones and Beepers must be turned off before coming to class!

Programs:

          There will be approximately 8 programs assigned throughout the semester. Programs will be assigned approximately every third class meeting. Each program will be graded. A program must represent individual, and not collaborative, work. Copied programs will result in a grade of zero on that program for all parties involved. Together, the programs will count for 1/3 of your grade. Each program will have a "Due Date". Each program is due on the "Due Date" at the start of the class meeting. Any program submitted after the class meeting on the "Due Date" is considered late. There will be a penalty for lateness of 10% per day (that is per day, not per class meeting!!).

Examinations:

          There will be two exams. Together, the exams will count for 1/3 of your grade.

Final Examination:

          There will be a cumulative final examination, which will count for 1/3 of your grade.

Course Grade:

          The exact mapping of weighted term average to alphabetic grade will be determined at the end of the semester by Professor Ziegler.
