Internet Research
In the “Intro to Computers” chapter, our discussion chiefly focused on creating and finding information (and files) on our own computer. We shouldn’t, however, limit ourselves only to our single device.
Internet Research refers to the activity of searching and detecting information online.
Research purposes include:
- Finding the definition of a word, phrase, or concept (e.g., a search for the definition of the English word “Taradiddle” or the explanation of what “Laissez-faire” is.)
- Detecting online research papers, news articles, or other publications on a specific topic (e.g., a search for an article on the effects of Covid-19 vaccines on pregnancy.)
- Locating images, audio, and video files related to a topic (e.g., searching for cooking videos or streams on YouTube or searching for images of flowers on Google.)
