The CIA Triad
- Availability means "ensuring that information is available to authorized people whenever they need to access, view, or even modify it."
A computer system that crashes when too many users access it at the same time or crashes to due a cyber attack, due to which access to information isn't provided to the authorized users, violates the Availability principle.
Example: You are required to carry out certain work and your reference documents are in a particular
database and that particular database is down for technical reasons.
Ways to Enforce Availability:
- Physical Security can also keep a system from natural disasters and vandalism that reduce availability.
- Just as with integrity, Data Backups help keep posting data that were lost or damaged.
