Cryptography

The main goals of cryptography are to:

• Hide data stored in a system/database from thieves or hackers of this database.
• Establish confidential, untampered, and unforged communication between two people or programs.

Eavesdropping is the action of tapping on an ongoing communication between two parties. The goal of an eavesdropper is to illegally listen to and obtain data that is supposed to be communicated confidentially. However, when data is encrypted during transfer, an eavesdropper will have no way to understand what those data mean.
