Symmetric Key Cryptography
Symmetric Key Cryptography (also called Secret Key Cryptography) is the usage of ciphers that use the same exact key for both encryption and decryption of data/messages.
This key is secret and must be known only to the creator/sender of a message or data and the reader/receiver thereof.
- If anyone else gets the key, they will be able to access the message, thereby violating its confidentiality.
