CORC 1312: Frequently Asked Questions

• I am confused about the Core Curriculum.

• The current lab doesn't show up on my screen.

  First make sure that the date is set correctly on your computer. Then try pressing the "Refresh" or "Reload" button (usually a picture of an arrow, or picture of a page with an arrow on it) on the top of the browser window.

• Do I really have to use two different browsers? Can't I just do all my work using Internet Explorer or Safari?

  Part of the requirements of the course is that you become familiar with more than one browser. Different browsers have different features. As you learn how to create Web pages and programs that run on the Web, it is important to see how these things might appear differently or work differently when viewed using different browsers. Also, due to security concerns, webpages that you design may not show up with Internet Explorer.

• What is the difference between CORC 1312 and CC 3.12?

  CORC 1312 is the new course number for the Computer Science Core course.

• If I already took CC 3.12, Core 5.1 or CIS 1.0, do I have to take CORC 1312 also?

  No. If you already took CC 3.12, Core 5.1 or CIS 1.0, then you have already satisfied the Core math/computer science requirement.

• Does CORC 1312 teach Pascal or BASIC?

  No. CORC 1312 focuses on the Internet. It introduces HTML to produce Web pages and uses JavaScript to illustrate programming concepts.
