Lecture #12 discussed multi-agent interactions.

Notes

Notes are available in two formats (note that the numbering on the slides diverges from my numbering of the lectures).

Reading

This lecture covered Chapter 6 of the textbook. You should read through Chapter 6 in detail.

The reading to go with the class is:

D. Hofstadter, "The Prisoner's Dilemma Computer Tournaments and the Evolution of Cooperation", in Metamagical Themas: Questing for the Essence of Mind and Pattern, (D. Hofstadter, Penguin, 1986), 715-734.
and copies will be handed out in class.

The classic work on the Prisoner's Dilemma is:

R. Axelrod, The Evolution of Cooperation, Basic Books.
Anyone interested in the PD is well advised to beg, borrow, or steal a copy (and then read it, of course).
